AI Citation

An AI citation is a link or source reference that an answer engine attaches to its answer, pointing at a specific URL.

Technical explanation

Citations are extracted from the engine response, normalised to a domain and a path, and stored with the run so citation counts and citation share can be compared over time.

Example

An answer that lists three source links, one of which is varazm.com/services, contains one citation for Varazm.

How it differs

A citation carries a URL. A mention only names the brand in the text, with no source link.
